terrible

im sorry, but this needs a lot of work... the humor is really weak, the concept is cliche and the overall story, seems arbitrary.

you need to seriously fine tune your script and story before animating this, there is potential here, but its got a long way to go..

however the art style and voices arent too bad... the voices arent incredibly annoying, just the script is...

and too be honest, this isnt so much worse then your standard cartoon on tv, cosidering the standards now adays, so you never know...

but my standards a little higher, and i respectfully suggest you work on your script...

if your going to do a toon this long id pick a more interesting song, and if you think it has nothing to do with the animation, then just try watching it without the music...

i like what you did with the solo but besides that this cartoon is pretty straight forward without providing any actual content.

id agree with you about concept over quality but i cant say you started with much of a concept...

animation was decent though and i like the style however simple it may be...

horrible sound

the sound was bad to begin with but is it me or is it WAAAAYYYYYY out of sync?

i couldnt enjoy this because of it fix that and then maybe i can give this a deserving score... oh yeah and i agree with the whole awsome thing... dont just jump on the awsome wagon...

think of a new name, its a parady like any other....

i hate that music... its horrible.. sorry it is... its bland and generic and whiney pretentious and it doesnt represent whats going on.....

cant say its a bad movie because of the music but it sure doesnt help...

i see a lot of these "flying" shots where something is about to happen or has happened... and then flash backs... and bells go off in my head asking me why someone would invest so much time in something and make it seem like nothing is really happenning...

i usually find flash backs kill a story... start from the begginning and work yourself up... so were going to start at the battle scene right? all drama gets thrown out the window, ACCEPT THAT no number of flash backs is going to recover drama... its gone...

so if you want to do a movie about two guys fighting... cool nice concept, its work many times before and im sure anyone can make it work again... but you need to accept that its an idea that can only go so far... theres no story in a battle scene... you dont start at the climax and expect inpact.. your not even making a dent in our minds when i can tell your trying to make a crater...

sorry, i however do like the style of the characters, i dont like the animation because there barely is any... its all shorcuts and no meat...

i love newgrounds

i have chosen this specific cartoon to outline my thoughts on this whole shape movie thing... i realize that doesnt sound relavent to THIS cartoon, so lets do a quick review to show you my hearts in the right place:

i must say i enjoyed this one just as much as egoraptors. that includes sound which was done well, i really enjoyed the voice acting, and since were not really taking animation into account all that can be said about the images is that, although they arent terribly origional, they are well chosen. they served a perpose, they were easily identified, it got the job done, thats what its all about.\

regarding certain "gay" themes...

im really dissapointed and surprized how many homophobes we have lurking around, grow up people, if it was too women, would anyone care? hell no. get over it. i found it funny in the context it was presented.

now regarding the whole shape deal...

it proves once and for all that newgrounds is not merly a website, not a club, not a gathering, or collection, it is a STATEMENT! it is an expression! we are every day as animators expressing change, and the concept that rules can be broken.

so lets see what makes up a "good" cartoon.

plot? movement?

a cartoon is good as long as it brings its point across, as far as the creator is concerned. if we cant figure out whats going on, the cartoon is poor. now you might think, well what if a cartoon is not meant to be understood? fair enough, as long as we understand that...

its usually clear whether we are supposed to understand something, and when to take it for granted, that you are meant to be confused and sit back and judge the cartoon how it should be, "if i'm not suppose to understand it, then i have to judge it on its other defining factors.

this is all besides the point, and the point is, these cartoons achieve what they set out to do... to deliver a simple punch line.

the expression is this: yes we can do an amazing cartoon of color and style and movement, but i can also do a cartoon with little to no animation, with simple graphics and muted colors and it will be just as good. i can make it good. and they are good, they are brilliant.

they rely PURLY on the actors and the script and they work out just fine....

ask yourself right now, about this specific cartoon, if it was worked on for weeks and weeks, painstakingly animated so that johnny utah and stamper were fully figured and moving in full color with a background, but the same script... would it be a better cartoon? i say NAY, i say it would be poorer for it, because it would be a high production cartoon, with a one punchline joke, it would be overdone and stale at the point of completion.

take it with a grain of salt, and look at it a different way, because the truth is these cartoons arent on front page because they were done by "celebrities" for lack of a better term, they are on front page to prove a statement.

this was bad...

i needed to see it twice to make sure i wasnt mistaken.... but its true, you took the backgrounds from portal: the flash version...

i wouldnt have noticed but it was strange to me how your hero had to duck to get through the doors... lol... fail...

and its true you took basically every element and mish-mashed them into this short mess...

and why is it it slows every once in a while? how did you compile this?

yes ive played the portal game, and it was amazing, this wasnt... btw the only origional idea you had (shooting a portal at someone) doesnt even really make sense...

bad music, just didnt seem to match what was going on... what would have been at least nice, is if you had stolen that as well.. from the actual portal game, and considering how short this is you could have used 4000 degrees kalvin.

im just a little grateful you didnt abuse that stupid "the cake is a lie" meme which has flown out of control...

i think you must have stolen the gun and character designs too.. unless that was what you spent all your time on... based one the stick figure drawing when he enters the room, you have a lack of drawing talent...

this was horrible... its a shame your making a sequal

as for this one... not bad really, but just not any good, i mean the joke didn't really make any sense, and then it ended....

i didnt mind the animation, but more of it would be good, like 30 seconds minamum

try making a few jokes and then submit it, and keep at it...

i like these kinds of movies purely to look at the reviews scanning for that one douche bag who gives a zero because hes a mac fag, or visa versa

i was dissapointed, so maybe ill make a cartoon simalar, with only one destination: to piss everyone off, then my strange ego will swell as i tell both pc and mac fools:

"ha ha ha, you have no soul!"

There actually were a few reviews in that vein, but they're hidden deep in a page I've completely forgotten. Easiest way is to sort the reviews by rating and find the 0 reviews, those usually have the total biased hatred.

this looks so much like some of my cartoons, its stunning.

the fact that this has become so popular is almost painful, hoever

i thought it meant well, i liked the background in the begginning, but i thought overall this was a fairly lazy production, not just because you used stick figures, not even because you used the SAME stick figures...

i shouldnt even say that there is very little here, you could have done a lot more, the style does not bother me, but i would have liked to have seen a begginning, or an ending...

what we have here is a poor middle...
